Freedom in Christ
This powerful message on freedom in Christ challenges us to examine what truly holds us back from living in the fullness of God's promises. Drawing from Galatians 5:1, we're reminded that Christ has truly set us free, but the question becomes: are we living like free people, or are we still carrying chains that have already been broken? The message uses the vivid metaphor of a backpack filled with our sins, shame, and past mistakes—garbage that weighs us down on our spiritual journey. When we come to the altar and release these burdens to Jesus, we must make the conscious decision not to pick them back up when we leave. The elephant story illustrates how we can be conditioned to believe we're still bound even when we have the strength to break free. Fear, shame, condemnation, unforgiveness, and pride are identified as the primary weapons the enemy uses to keep us in bondage. But here's the beautiful truth: when Jesus said 'It is finished' on the cross, He meant our slavery to sin was finished. We're called to stay free, to walk in that freedom daily, and to trust that God will complete the work He started in us. This isn't about performance or comparing our progress to others—it's about letting the Potter mold us at His pace, one step at a time, with the assurance that slow progress is still progress.
